What’s Your Appetite For Opportunity?

What is your appetite for opportunity in your firm?

There are of course different types.

Type 1 – The type that lands at your feet such as referred work. Not much to do there to obtain it except get the price right and make sure you have the capacity to deliver the scope of work.

Type 2 – The type where someone comes along and offers you a lot of money to retire, again apart from a little nostalgia in terms of letting go of what you’ve built; not too difficult to accept because it landed at your feet.

Type 3 – The type you have to create and work for to build. Maybe you took that opportunity when you started your firm. If you’ve yet to start a firm, then maybe that’s the next opportunity you’re thinking about.

There are many other versions of Type 3 that are presented to you everyday such as, off the top of my head:

  • The opportunity to build a new service line
  • The opportunity to increase profitability
  • The opportunity to create competitive advantage for yourself via practice technology
  • The opportunity to develop team members to reduce reliance on yourself
  • The opportunity to help clients achieve their ambition
  • The opportunity to travel as part of an association or network
  • The opportunity to learn via a community
  • The opportunity to build new referrer relationships

You get the general idea.

Some of you might look at that list and tell me there’s no time, no money, that you don’t know where to start, that you’re not sure you can do it, that you tried once and it didn’t work and so on.

My only response is that every 8 figure firm I know used to be a seven figure firm and every seven figure firm I know used to be a six figure firm and every six figure firm I know….etc

The choice to coast, to grow, to win, to whine, to ignite, to stagnate; it’s all in your hands.

It all depends on the appetite for different types of opportunity in your firm.

To your success
